Redwater Multi-faith Chapel
It is 15 km northwest of Redwater, Alberta where one is able to traverse the rolling hills of the Canadian Prairies upon approaching a multi-faith chapel embedded in the hilly terrain. Located on an 80 sq. acre private acreage, this place of contemplation evokes feelings of a connection to a larger natural being without disturbing the beauty of the surrounding environment. Shaped like a twisted oval, it sits surrounded by woodlands with a narrow path winding its way through the building and lanscape.
Structurally, the building consists of undulating adobe brick walls revealing a void with an open roof. The opening allows air, sounds and natural light of the external world into this organic space where nature and architecture are intimately connected. Inside, the ground is leveled with light grey gravel that frames the dynamic qualities of sunlight creating an ambience that showcases countless appearances as time passes. An oval tunnel lined with bricks creates the subterranean passageway into the concavity.
The Chapel is under construction and in progress.
